What is Complex Bowel Care?

Complex bowel care refers to specialised supports required by individuals who need assistance managing bowel function due to disability, neurological conditions, injury, illness or other health-related factors.

Support requirements vary from person to person and may include:

  • Recording bowel care outcomes
  • Escalating health concerns when required

All supports are provided in accordance with participant-specific plans and healthcare recommendations.

At Quad Care, bowel care support is never approached as a routine task.

Our staff undergo competency-based assessment to demonstrate knowledge and practical skills in areas including:

  • Infection prevention and control

  • Safe use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Bowel health monitoring
  • Risk identification
