September – October 2023 Newsletter

Allied Health

September was an absolute game changer for the Quad Care family as we welcome our Allied Health to the team!

Our exercise Physiologist Tim has hit the ground running, his books are filling up fast, not to mention the hydrotherapy in our beautiful pool at the hub!

Our Speech Therapist Emily is on deck also seeing new clients on Thursdays and Fridays until the end of the year!

If anyone like to get in touch for an initial consult with either Tim or Emily, they can contact our front office on 07 5391 1291 – and press 1!

Team Leaders and Administrators

If you haven’t figured it out already our beautiful team of staff is growing! So we are on the lookout for a new team leader for a couple of teams. Particularly Team Jenny, if anyone is interested, please let Amanda know as next year our Aunty Mel is headed to work at the Hub 4 days a week!

We are also on the hunt for some wonderful new support staff, and so far we have had so much success with internal referrals – so staff letting us know they know someone who is really great who’d make a great support worker, so if you have someone that’s a friend of a friend or family looking for PPT work in a support worker role, absolutely please let us know!

We are of course also currently hiring for a Senior Occupational Therapist, Psychologist and soon another Exercise Physiologist as our Hydrotherapy is a hit and we’ll have hydrotherapy available year round!

Hydrotherapy

As per Sue’s request, she had to make the Newsletter, and she is looking fabulous!! Sue has been coming in and getting all the benefits of cold-water therapy and what it offers for people with MS. Sue literally get’s out of the pool pinging!

We will be ready for our MS and stroke clients, even now the pool is heated by delaying the heating on a couple of days a week so our people get the best of both worlds – the hot and cold water worlds that is! Not gonna lie Sue I cannot handle the cold like you can!

Gympie Muster – Supported Holiday

So everybody knows one thing we love to do is camp, and travel. This year our beautiful Amanda invited us along to her annual Gympie Muster. Not just Zac and myself, but she also brought along with her our lovely Lenni. And my lord did Lenni Love it!!!! She had her scooter and her stretcher and an absolute blast. Amanda supported her the whole time, enjoying her company, her infectious laugh, scooter dancing, and of course Lenni’s exemplary tipsy scooter driving. Every night they came back to camp late after enjoying all that the Muster had to offer, from beautiful food, plenty of wine and of course country music artists from Casey through to Troy Cassar-Daley. I am willing to bet they’ll be back for another adventure next year too!

Christmas Closure

As everyone knows we love a good camping trip and end-of-year rest, so as usual Zac the boys and I will be heading up to Rainbow Beach with Aunty Mel and her family, and Nan Nan and Papa for an epically deserved rest after a wonderful year of hard work. As usual, our support service side of the business will be business as usual with different staff on call after hours.

The office will be closed from 5pm on the 22nd of December and opening again at 9am Monday the 8th of January. For any clients that would like to use the pool during this time, just let me know and we’ll organise a key to be left out, this will be for any of our current Support Service clients.

I can’t believe the next Newsletter will be the last one of the year!!!!

Feedback Spotlight

We’ve had some great feedback across our staff and clients, especially with the opening of the hub. Check out what’s staying and going and coming our way!

The Hub Outhouse

Some clients have requested a toilet in the change room out near the pool, so we’ll be organising a temporary toileting solution next week. We’re also sourcing a chair lift for the back stairs so people don’t need to walk around the front if they’d like to come inside for a cuppa!

Participant Portal

We’ve had some feedback from clients that the sooner we can get the participant portal open in our new software the better, so Lilly is working hard to pull that together by the end of the year. This will enable clients to book appointments and services through the app and see their roster of support quick and easily. It is a key feature of the new software and we can’t wait to see it up and running for our clients.

Blink – stay or go

Blink. Well, we know we all love Blink. And when the Quad Care app started there was some discussion around letting Blink go, but we just can’t part with it! It’s like letting go of our stories and history, so we’ve decided that Blink will be staying!
