Karaoke

Karaoke in the Hub will include a karaoke machine, snacks, and a projector to encourage sing-alongs. Karaoke facilitates capacity building for our participants through using speech, memory, and multi-tasking skills. Through listening to music and engaging in singing, individuals are supported to acknowledge sentence structure and pronunciation of words while using reading and concentration skills. Furthermore, the potential respiratory therapeutic benefits of karaoke can include increased respiratory strength, endurance, and control while engaging in a fun and meaningful activity.

Karaoke aids partakers in establishing emotional regulation with the release of dopamine facilitating the lowering of heart rate, breathing rate, and blood pressure – which eases pain, stress, and anxiety. Self-esteem and confidence are often heightened after engaging in karaoke, especially when socialisation and teamwork are present in the activity.
