From 1 November 2025, the way aged care is delivered in Australia will change with the introduction of the Support at Home (SaH) program. We know these changes may present questions and some uncertainty. Quad Care want to help you and your care network to understand what this means for you.
Transport is an important part of maintaining independence, connection, and wellbeing for you. Under SaH, transport supports may be included in your package if they relate directly to your assessed care needs and goals.
Transport services may include:
- Trips to medical or health appointments – GP, specialist, hospital, or allied health.
- Transport to community activities – for example, attending social groups, exercise programs, or community events that support wellbeing.
- Support to attend essential errands – such as the pharmacy, post office, or local shopping when linked to your care needs.
- Assisted travel – support from a care worker who accompanies you to ensure safety and confidence during outings.
To best support you, we want to be open and clear about how funding works under the SaH program. This will be informed by the Support at Home Program Manual and Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission guidance.

Supports included under SaH funding are directly linked to your assessed support needs and goals. For example, personal care, nursing, allied health, meal preparation, transport, and help around the home.
What is not included are:
- general everyday costs related to your transport needs. For example, private holidays, non-essential travel, or trips unrelated to your care plan/goals.
- vehicle registration, petrol for personal cars, or public transport fares for family or friends.
- travel that is not connected to your aged care supports, health needs or goals.
Quad Care will advocate to make the most of your funding within these guidelines. We will ensure that the care you receive is safe, meaningful and respectful.
Understanding what SaH funding can and cannot cover helps avoid confusion and ensures you receive the right supports. It also protects you from unexpected costs. At Quad Care, we’ll always talk openly with you and your family about what is possible within your funding, and where additional supports may need to be arranged separately.
Our commitment to you is to:
– Listen to your needs and respect your choices
– Create care plans that reflect your goals
– Support you to live safely, independently, and with dignity at home
– Provide guidance around funding limitations, so you always know what to expect
We believe aged care should be transparent, compassionate, and person-centred.
If you’d like to consider if Quad Care can support you under your Support at Home (SaH) funding, we would appreciate the opportunity to talk with you.
